Create a new imaging program with 0 targets from the current filter results.
You have 0 results, which exceeds the maximum of 199 targets allowed for an automagically generated imaging program.
Please refine your filters to reduce the number of results.
Add, edit, or delete observer locations. Each location stores coordinates, timezone, and observing conditions.
A planning tool for astrophotographers - calculate seasonal visibility windows, transit times, sequence planning, and many more capabilities are available for thousands of deep sky targets. Most functions do not require the internet.
Astryx runs in your web browser at astryx.tools, and as a desktop app for Linux and Windows. The installers are on the GitHub releases page.
This application uses astronomical and display algorithms developed with assistance from Claude (Anthropic).

Astryx stores all data on your own computer: in the browser's storage on the web, and in a local database in the desktop app. This software is provided as-is, without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The developer assumes no responsibility for data loss, damages, or any other liability arising from the use of this software or software failure. Back up your data regularly.

Failed to initialize properly. This might be due to browser compatibility issues or corrupted data.
Calculates best observing month and visibility window for all
targets viewable from the specified location. The scoring is
based on type-specific weighted scoring of sky position,
integration time, and altitude.
High transit weight for stars, dark nebulae, galaxies. These
targets benefit most from being high in the sky. Position matters
more than total time. Balanced weights for bright nebulae,
SNRs. These extended objects benefit from both good positioning
and longer integration time. Lower altitude thresholds for bright
nebulae. Brighter objects can be imaged at lower altitudes where
atmospheric extinction is greater.

Everything you enter in Astryx (settings, locations, equipment, pinned targets, your To Do List, imaging projects, sessions and programs) is stored only in this browser. on this computer. Nothing is stored on any remote server.
If your browser data is cleared, you switch browsers, or this device fails, this computer fails or is lost, your data is gone. A backup kept somewhere else is the only copy that survives.
Two kinds of backup:
If you have enabled Automatic backups on change in the Settings, a user data backup will automatically occur for you a few minutes (see Settings) after the last change. Automatic backups go to your browser's downloads folder. the Backup Folder from Settings, including your Downloads folder.
Copy your backups to a cloud drive, a USB stick or another computer. To restore one, choose Restore in the system menu (≡).
Note that the desktop version of Astryx stores its data in the computer's local storage rather than in browser storage. Note that the web version of Astryx stores its data in browser storage rather than in the computer's local storage. Backup files are interchangeable between the web and desktop versions.
Graph visualization: Shows peak target altitude during astronomical darkness throughout the year. Background gradient shows observability score for each day based on transit timing (how close to midnight) and dark hours available (total time above type-specific threshold). Darker shading indicates better observing conditions.
